About Us
Based on Mr. Sameer Lila’s experience, expertise in certain subject areas and passion for education, he decided to create an organization that could fill voids in the world of education through his organization, Lessons With Lila. As he began his career in 2017, he quickly attained success as an educator. Throughout his career, Sameer has received tremendous feedback from students, colleagues, administrators and parents regarding his practice. This can be seen clearly in the testimonials section of this website.
Not only was Sameer well liked in the schools he’s worked at, he also delivered results in the classroom. He has designed many engaging learning experiences while building positive relationships with his students. While teaching at an Alberta accredited school in Qatar, his grade 9 Social Studies classes were required to write a Provincial Achievement Test at the end of year. Sameer’s students achieved excellent scores on the test as a whole and were some of the best results in the history of that school.
Sameer created and designed the entire Business program at his pevious school for grades 7 – 11. For middle school this involved designing the entire curriculum and for high school he designed courses based on selecting 5 Alberta accredited modules. Parents and students often question why finance isn’t explicitly taught in schools and there are various reasons for this, one being that most teachers lack the knowledge to teach it effectively. Sameer does possess this knowledge and believes that all students should have access to education that develops adequate financial literacy.
Additionally, his Master’s dissertation topic: “How Does the Increased Use of Smartphones and Social Media impact the Mental Health and Social Development of Teenagers?” is a hot button topic that isn’t being addressed enough by educators and policy makers globally. Schools do a great job discussing digital citizenship and what appropriate, safe conduct online looks like. However, not enough is said about how much students are using their phones and what the consequences of overuse are.
Due to his passion for high-quality instruction in schools, financial literacy and the mental-emotional well being of students he created Lessons with Lila an organization to work with schools, educators, governments, parents and students all over the world.
